The Tripura government has presented a budget of Rs 32,423.44 crore for the financial year 2025-26, marking a significant 20% increase from the previous year’s budget of Rs 27,804.67 crore. Addressing the media on Sunday, BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty emphasized that the budget was crafted with a focus on the welfare of the state's marginalized communities.
"During the Left Front government’s tenure, the state budget stood at Rs 15,000 crore. In the past seven years, the BJP government has increased the budget by 103 times, creating a new milestone for Tripura," Chakraborty said. He highlighted that the capital expenditure for 2025-26 has been set at Rs 7,903 crore, representing a 19.14% increase from the previous year.
The health sector has received a significant boost, with an allocation of over Rs 1,948.69 crore — a 12.89% increase compared to the 2024-25 financial year. Chakraborty also highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering women through the newly announced Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana, a welfare scheme aimed at supporting the marriage expenses of daughters from Antyodaya families.
"Under this scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 for the marriage of a girl child from a marginalized family. Mass wedding ceremonies will be organized at the sub-divisional level for the beneficiaries, with Rs 10 crore allocated for this initiative," Chakraborty stated.
In a significant move benefiting government employees and teachers, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced a 3% hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) with immediate effect. The decision has been welcomed by employees across the state.
"The Tripura government has presented a people-centric budget with a human touch. On behalf of the BJP, we extend our gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy for this historic budget," Chakraborty concluded.
With substantial allocations for social welfare, healthcare, and employee benefits, the 2025-26 budget reflects the government's focus on inclusive development and economic progress in Tripura.
