Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury criticized the 2025-26 budget, calling it “directionless” and “anti-people.” He argued that the proposals lacked substance and offered nothing to those struggling with daily hardships. According to him, the budget failed to address the needs of the poor, especially those in villages and hills, who continue to face severe difficulties. Instead, he alleged, funds were allocated strategically to benefit a particular section.
Chaudhury acknowledged the impressive size of the budget, with a total outlay of Rs 32,423.44 crore, but dismissed it as merely an attractive figure. He remarked that the Finance Minister’s two-hour-long speech, though eloquent, failed to address the real concerns of the public. He claimed that crucial areas like employment generation and daily life challenges were ignored.
He also accused the state government of failing to achieve significant progress in asset creation through capital investment over the last seven years. He asserted that all budgets during this period were designed to serve the interests of a select group rather than the broader population.
