Tripura Leader of Opposition Jitendra Choudhuri has blamed the ruling BJP for the growing drug menace in the state, alleging a “sinister design” to ruin the future of the youth. Citing NCRB data, he claimed that Tripura ranks among the worst states for drug trafficking and consumption, severely impacting young people.

Countering Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s claim that Tripura has one of the lowest crime rates, Choudhuri pointed out that the state records high incidents of crimes against women, kidnappings of minor girls, and unnatural deaths. He argued that these issues reflect the government's failure to maintain social security and economic stability.

He also accused the BJP government of ignoring public grievances, stating that protests for basic necessities like water and electricity have become a daily occurrence. He claimed that beyond opposition parties, common people are now actively protesting against the government’s inefficiency.

Speaking at an AIDWA event, Choudhuri urged women, who make up half of Tripura’s population, to lead the fight against BJP rule. He also criticized Tipra Motha, accusing the party of deceiving indigenous communities by aligning with the BJP after the elections.
