Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, announced that the state cabinet has approved the recruitment of 153 posts across the Education and Food and Civil Supplies departments. This includes 118 Post Graduate Teacher (Computer Science) positions, to be filled through a TRBT-conducted written test, with selected candidates posted in Vidya Jyoti Schools. Additionally, 35 senior store guards will be recruited under the Food and Civil Supplies department, with JRBT conducting the selection process. Chowdhury also revealed that Assam has shown interest in adopting Tripura’s Public Distribution System (PDS) model, particularly its inclusion of lentils. A team of officials from Assam visited Tripura to study the system and met with the department’s director for guidance. Assam has now decided to implement a similar model in its state. Addressing allegations by Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Chowdhury urged responsible statements from seasoned politicians. He dismissed claims of external interference in department files and clarified that the temporary halt in supplying spices through fair price shops was due to ongoing tender procedures, ensuring legal compliance before implementation. Tripura has been recognized for its strong PDS performance, ranking first among North Eastern states and securing the fourth position nationally. The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining transparency and efficiency in food distribution.
