Bishramganj Police Station, recently recognized as the best police station in Tripura, has come under scrutiny after a woman accused an officer of misconduct. Mithun Saha, a sub-inspector, allegedly mistreated Jyotsna Debbarma, a state-level weightlifting champion, who had traveled from Karnataka to follow up on a theft case involving her mother's house.

According to reports, Debbarma visited the police station to inquire about the case but was ignored by the officer, who walked away without responding properly. She alleged that ₹10,000 was stolen from her mother's room on March 5, and despite filing an FIR naming four suspects, no action was taken. Instead, police arrested an innocent person who had been looking after her mother in her absence.

The incident, which took place today at the police station, was caught on camera, showing Debbarma being mistreated. She claims the police insulted her and forced her to leave the premises. Local residents have also expressed anger over the police’s handling of the case, questioning why the real suspects were not arrested.

Debbarma, who resides in Karnataka with her two children, has vowed to escalate the matter to the Superintendent of Police (SP) and District Magistrate (DM), seeking justice for her mother.
