A middle aged man was found dead in mysterious circumstances near Malaynagar by-pass road in the outskirts of Agartala city on Tuesday. The deceased had been identified as Ranabir Deb (52). According to family members of the deceased, he ventured out of his home late on Monday night and wasn’t responding to repeated phone calls from his wife and other family members. Deb, a resident of Jogendra Nagar Kulu Kamini Tilla, was reportedly undergoing a turbulent phase of his life due to the rising burden of loans which he took for his business. Deb was found hanging from a branch of the tree. As soon as locals noticed the mortal remains, police were informed. Police recovered the body and shifted it to GB Pant hospital for post mortem examination. Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have outrightly refused to accept his death as an act of suicide. Sister of the deceased said, “My brother would never take such a drastic step. He was facing some challenges related to the loans but otherwise things were quite normal in the family. Last night she spent some time with the family and left the house after having dinner. Since then he could not be reached over the phone.” She said ideally if someone hanged himself his body would have been hanging at a distance from surface level but when we saw the body here it was in sitting posture. “The police should investigate properly and find out the killer of my brother,” she said.
