Matteo Valenti was a final-year archaeology student from Florence, Italy. He loved studying old monasteries and medieval mysteries. When his university planned a summer trip to explore the ruins of Castel Valdoro in the Dolomite Mountains, Matteo quickly enrolled himself into that trip.
The hike to the ruins of Castel Valdoro was difficult. Matteo and four other students hiked through pine forests and sharp rocky cliffs with their professor, Alessio Romano. Matteo carried digging tools, mapping equipment, and old manuscripts referencing a sealed chamber beneath the castle.
By afternoon, they reached the fortress. The towers were broken, and green ivy covered the cracked stone walls. Inside the main hall, there were old paintings of mystical figures. On the floor, a spiral symbol was carved into the stone.
While exploring Matteo felt some cold air coming from under some loose tiles. The team removed the tiles and found a hidden trapdoor. Under it was a narrow staircase which led into darkness.
They carefully walked down the stairs and they found an underground room which was huge. The ceiling had shining minerals that reflected their lantern lights. In the middle of the room there was a stone table covered with dust, on top of it there was a strange bronze tool with round moving circles, it had old latin words and star shapes carved on it. Matteo slowly turned one circle to match the stars in the sky. And then suddenly the ground began to shake.
The walls slid open, showing small hidden spaces filled with old rolled papers, everyone felt scared. Matteo looked at the bronze tool again. This time he understood something important, the signs were not about stars in the sky. They were giving directions, he quickly turned the inner circle to match the spiral symbol they saw upstairs. After that, a part of the wall slowly opened, a narrow tunnel appeared which led upwards. They ran through the tunnel, behind them, the chamber started collapsing. When they finally reached outside, it was evening. The castle looked calm and silent, like nothing had happened.
Later, when they checked the photos they noticed something strange, in every picture, the stone table was empty. The bronze tool was gone, as if it had never existed. Class IX, BHAVAN'S TRIPURA VIDYA MANDIR.
