Unplanned political roadshows across the state, sudden road closures caused massive public distress

A chaos has been created across the state due to the blocking of various roads of the capital including the national highways, marches, street meetings and roadshows etc. of the political parties. yesterday due to the extreme negligence of the state administration, traffic on the national highway was stopped during the state visit of the Union Home Minister. Earlier in the day, vehicular traffic was stopped on the national highway for at least four hours by the police administration in Jirania for the roadshow of West Tripura Lok Sabha seat candidate Biplab Kumar Dev. There was no advance announcement for this at the administrative level. The local police suddenly stopped vehicular movement on the national highway in Jirania. The common people have to bear the ultimate suffering. Same way yesterday the capital's busiest areas were virtually blocked for several hours on New Year's Eve and Monday afternoon without any prior announcement. Many students got sick after being stuck in the school bus for hours due to administrative malpractices in the scorching heatwave. As a result of this unplanned road blockade, severe traffic jams occurred in the entire Agartala city. Common people have been badly affected by going out for urgent work including office work. Ambulance movement also stopped in several times.

The state administration had already known that the Union Home Minister would come to the state. It is also known that there will be maximum security arrangements for the Home Minister of the country. No one has any objection to this or should have. But the way the state traffic authority has blocked the entire airport road after Sunday evening and Monday afternoon twice in order to provide security to the Union Home Minister, there has been anger among the general public.

Before the Prime Minister's visit, it was informed in an official notification in advanced that since morning 9 am to evening 6 pm of April 17 there will be no vehicles zone in airport road. People's are advised to use alternative roads to go MBB Airport.
