A Series of Extreme Deception and Political Tricks: Being Exposed!

The tribal community of this state did not support the BJP. Therefore, to get tribal votes, the BJP formed an alliance with the IPFT before the 2018 Assembly elections. The IPFT is an extremely anti-Bengali party. They are not even willing to live in the same state with Bengalis. That is why they demanded the division of Tripura and the creation of a separate state called Tipraland.
The IPFT worked almost like the political wing of the terrorist organisations  in the state. With the help of some terrorists, they carried out widespread violence in 2000 and once captured power in the ADC.
The then Left Front government and the Gana Mukti Parishad, with the cooperation of peace-loving and sensible people from both tribal and non-tribal communities, fought against these terrorists and succeeded in almost eliminating them. We lost many comrades of the Gana Mukti Parishad in this struggle. They became martyrs while fighting terrorists to protect the unity, harmony and development of the state.
At the same time, the IPFT became isolated from the people and grew weak. In three consecutive ADC elections, the party could not win even a single seat. The people of the state elected Left candidates in all three ADC elections without any opposition members being elected.
The BJP then revived this isolated and weak IPFT by giving it huge amounts of money, repeatedly inviting its leaders to Delhi and promising them Tipraland.
Across the state, the IPFT campaigned that the then Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Dr. Jitendra Singh had supposedly agreed to grant Tipraland. For this, the BJP had to be brought to power in the state.
After blocking the national highway for eleven days, the IPFT leadership announced “Tipraland Mankha”, meaning “We have got Tipraland”, and withdrew the blockade amid wild celebrations.
Across the state, liquor flowed freely, and there were large celebrations with meat and fireworks in the name of victory. Television showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi patting the back of IPFT supremo Narendra Chandra Debbarma.
In this way, the BJP-IPFT alliance came to power in the state in 2018. However, within a short time, it was announced that Tipraland would not be created.
IPFT president NC Debbarma and secretary Mebar Kumar became ministers and stopped raising the demand for Tipraland.
As a result, their workers and supporters considered the alliance government a betrayer. IPFT workers and supporters became extremely angry with the government.
At that time, the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) appeared and made the situation even worse.
The CAB rejected the Indira-Mujib International Agreement and the Assam Accord. Therefore, people of the Northeast believed that the CAB would once again change the population balance of the region.
Anti-CAB movements became stronger across the northeastern states.
In Tripura, a road blockade took place at Madhabbari in Jirania. Within just a few hours of the blockade, the police of the BJP-led alliance government opened fire indiscriminately.
Five tribal youths were seriously injured. The police attacked them again while they were being taken to hospital.
This incident added fuel to the growing anger against the alliance government. The protests became even stronger.
At that time, under the leadership of Pradyot Kishore Manikya, the slogan “Puila Jati, Ula Party”, meaning “Community First, Party Later”, was raised.
He left the Congress. An appeal was made to all tribal-based political parties to unite against the BJP.
Most leaders and workers of the INPT, TSP and IPFT responded to this call, and the Tipra Motha party was formed.
Although it may be unpleasant to admit, it is true that many workers and supporters of the Gana Mukti Parishad also joined it.
At that time, because of the strong anger against the BJP, there was a possibility that even traditionally non-Left tribal people would begin moving towards the Left.
They started saying that the Left Front government had been better.
Even after eleven days of road blockade, the police under the Left Front government had not harassed anyone in the slightest way.
But the police of the alliance government they had helped bring to power opened fire indiscriminately after only a few hours of road blockade.
Tipra Motha worked to stop this growing attraction towards the Left among tribal people and to reduce the strong anti-BJP anger through various political tricks, with the aim of turning those people into supporters of the BJP.
From the beginning, the Gana Mukti Parishad continued to expose their real intentions.
A large section of people who had considered Tipra Motha the most suitable party to fight against the BJP are now disappointed.
Many of them are now beginning to understand the tricks used to deceive them.
Initially, Tipra Motha leaders demanded Greater Tipraland, which is never possible.
They had spoken about including Tiprasa people from Assam, Mizoram and even Bangladesh within this Greater Tipraland.
Today, their leaders are no longer heard raising that demand.
Their demand for a constitutional solution has also not been fulfilled
They had said they would never compromise.
But now people are beginning to understand the secret understanding or compromise reached through repeated visits to Delhi, meetings with BJP leaders and ministers, and the journey to Delhi on a chartered aircraft sent by the Centre before the last Assembly elections to meet the Union Home Minister.
On Delhi's advice, they contested 42 Assembly constituencies only to divide the opposition votes and help the BJP return to power.
Their secret understanding became even clearer before the last Lok Sabha elections.
They joined the BJP-IPFT alliance government. One of their leaders became a Cabinet Minister and another became a Minister of State.
At that time, they said that a tripartite agreement had been signed between the Central Government, the State Government and Tipra Motha.
They claimed that the powers of the ADC would be increased within six months.
They also said that the government could not begin implementing the agreement because the announcement of elections had brought the Model Code of Conduct into force.
They requested their supporters not to leave the party for at least six months, to wait and to vote for BJP candidate Kriti Devi Debbarma.
In this way, the Tipra Motha leadership continued its efforts to turn strongly anti-BJP tribal people into close supporters of the BJP.
They repeatedly deceived people by talking about an interlocutor, a “One Last Fight” and other such things.
But such deception cannot continue for long.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections proved this.
In almost all polling stations in tribal areas, the votes received by CPI(M) and Congress candidates increased compared with the Assembly elections.
If an agreement is broken or promises are not kept, there should certainly be protests.
The IPFT did not protest when the promise to fulfil its demand for Tipraland was broken.
When the demand was not fulfilled, the party did not withdraw from the Cabinet.
As a result, people rejected the IPFT.
The party has now become almost non-existent in tribal areas.
Similarly, before the Lok Sabha elections, a tripartite agreement was signed with a promise to fulfil the demands within six months.
But even after eight months, there is no sign of its implementation.
If an agreement is broken, the ministers should be the first to resign.
But Tipra Motha leaders, like the IPFT leaders, are not doing so.
Now Tipra Motha leaders are again talking about bringing together the ten ADCs of the Northeast to fight jointly.
Many tribal people, feeling irritated, are saying that dishonest people never run out of tricks.
It should be mentioned here that anti-Left tribal people in our state believe that the powers of the ADC are not being increased because non-tribal people are the majority in the state.
Therefore, they argue that a separate state must be created.
But in Mizoram and Meghalaya, tribal people form a large majority.
Even there, the powers of the six ADCs established under the Sixth Schedule have not been increased.
In fact, those ADCs enjoy fewer powers than the ADC in our state.
That is why they also joined together in a meeting with the Union Home Minister to demand greater powers for the ADCs.
Therefore, increasing the powers of the ADC does not depend on whether tribal people are a majority or a minority.
It depends on the outlook, policies, ideology and programmes of the ruling parties in the Central and State Governments.
The BJP, which is currently in power at both the Centre and in the state, does not have a policy, ideology or programme to grant autonomy or self-governing powers to tribal people.
That is why Gujarat, the home state of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has not been given an ADC despite having a tribal population of one crore.
It should be mentioned that the CPI(M)'s programme clearly supports granting autonomy to tribal people.
As a result, about 40 years ago, the Left government established an autonomous administration under the Sixth Schedule in Tripura.
It should also be mentioned that opponents of the Left claim that the ADC was created because the TUJS had launched a movement demanding a District Council.
But the demand for tribal autonomy was included in the CPI(M)'s programme even before the TUJS was formed.
The real aim and ideology of the RSS-BJP is to establish a Hindu Rashtra based on “One Country, One Nation and One Policy”.
They reject the idea of India that emerged from the country's freedom struggle — “Unity in Diversity”.
They want to absorb and eliminate the different languages and cultures of the various nationalities, tribes and communities of this country.
Therefore, tribal autonomy is unimportant and unnecessary to them.
That is why the Central Government is not accepting the demands for autonomy raised by tribal people in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, as well as the Kodava tribal community of Karnataka.
Today, the Tipra Motha leadership is trying to bring the tribal community of the state into the service of the alliance government in order to protect this extremely anti-tribal BJP government.
If they truly want the welfare of tribal people, they should not cooperate with the BJP. Instead, they should play a role in removing it from power.
As long as the BJP remains in power, the rights of tribal people will continue to be taken away.
Securing new rights will remain a distant dream.
To protect the BJP, Tipra Motha leaders are now talking about a “Long Fight” instead of a “Last Fight”.
They say that the Delhi government has formed some committee in which two of their representatives are members.
Meetings will be held from time to time.
Therefore, people must prepare for a long fight.
Whatever they may say, a section of Tipra Motha workers and supporters is clearly beginning to understand this trick.
They have also seen how the people of the country, through the last Lok Sabha elections, turned the once very powerful BJP government into a weak government.
The BJP does not have a majority on its own in the present Central Government.
The government is surviving with the support of other parties.
People have doubts about how long such a government can survive.
Therefore, the government that Tipra Motha leaders want to serve for a long time in the name of a “Long Fight” to secure rights may itself not remain in power for long.
What will happen then?
People are also observing the miserable condition of those parties that supported the BJP-led Central Government and its anti-people activities during the last ten years.
Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Party in Andhra Pradesh, Naveen Patnaik's BJD in Odisha, the AGP and BPF in Assam, and the IPFT in Tripura were all partners in the BJP's fascist-style misrule over the past ten years.
Today, the existence of all these parties is in danger.
The BJP's allied parties in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur also suffered serious defeats in the last Lok Sabha elections.
In this way, people are rejecting the parties that cooperate with the anti-people BJP government.
Tipra Motha will face the same situation.
A large section of its workers and supporters is now realising this.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections clearly reflect this trend.
Their participation in our programmes is increasing.
There is no doubt about it.
By remaining a partner in the alliance government and pretending to launch movements to secure demands from that same government, Tipra Motha leaders will no longer be able to mislead people or retain their public support.
The TTAADC Village Committee Elections 2026 have, according to critics, further exposed the political intentions of Tipra Motha. While presenting itself as a partner of the BJP-led NDA, Tipra Motha reportedly witnessed frequent clashes between its grassroots cadres and BJP workers during the election period. The party ultimately secured nearly 80% of the seats mostly uncontested, raising questions about the ground-level coordination between the two alliance partners and the nature of their political relationship.
