The Dizzy Dad

Jonathan Bernays was a very renowned paranormal investigator and scientist from the U.S.A. He resided in Colorado. His name was widely spread around the country and even globally because of his weird and contrasting interests. He used to apply scientific methods to unexplained phenomena instead of blind belief. He had solved numerous mysteries across the globe; some of them included actual supernatural powers, and some were just set-ups made by people.
He had a son named Jake Bernays. Jake had just turned 20, and his mother had finally permitted him to go on paranormal expeditions along with his dad, that too after he grovelled to her for years.
Jonathan had decided to do something different this time. He had planned a paranormal expedition to India, as Indian mythology is spoken about all around the globe. He also instructed his team not to join him, as he wanted to explore with only his son Jake. Jake was also brave and curious enough to agree to this plan.
They chose a paranormal villa called The Mahima Villa, which was situated between a forest, located in the outskirts of Udaipur, Rajasthan.
They finally came to India, and for the first two days, they had some meetings with the government officials for all the paperwork and formalities. They finally got the permission to investigate The Mahima Villa. Jake was very excited and nervous at the same time, as it was his first paranormal expedition, but his dad’s words of assurance acted like a guiding light to him. His dad said, “Be stress-free, your dad will be with you forever!”
They had finally reached the villa after crossing the dense forests. It was only two of them, as the Indian government had refused to provide any security, as it was a life-risking expedition. Jonathan was lowkey happy with the government’s decision, as he wanted to explore it with only his son.
As soon as they finally entered the villa, the big main gate of the villa closed automatically, making a huge noise and spreading dust all around. Jonathan was not scared at all by this and said, “Ha-ha, nice tricks, I am an old player, buddy,” whereas Jake was very scared and held his dad’s arm tightly. His dad calmed him down, and they proceeded to move ahead.
For this particular expedition, Jonathan had invented a special “paranormal translation device”, as he didn’t know Indian languages. The device was continuously beeping as they were going inside, and a message was popping up which said, “Leave my place or die.” Jonathan simply ignored these, whereas Jake was continuously telling him to leave.
Jonathan got frustrated by the cries of Jake and shouted at him, saying, “If you want to leave, then leave. I don’t care, I will solve the mystery alone.” But, as obvious, Jake didn’t leave.
They heard some temple bells ringing, which were coming from a particular direction. They discovered the villa’s temple room, which only had three bells hanging and a trident with blood stains at its tip. Strangely, the room did not have a single idol or picture of gods.
While the bells were ringing continuously, the device showed a message, “Last and final warning, leave my place or it will be your final moment standing alive.” Jake read this message out and told his dad multiple times to leave, but Jonathan remained standing right there and smiled.
Then suddenly, the trident came up and struck right between Jonathan’s chest, and the device showed a message, “Good bye, Johnny.” Jonathan’s death was here. He said his final words to Jake, “Don’t consider me dead, sunny. Whenever you feel to meet me, take a sip of that potion kept under my bed, and remember—your dad will be with you forever!” He finally took one last breath and closed his eyes.
No one had imagined that this paranormal expedition would be such a traumatic event for the Bernays family. Jonathan’s last rites were done by his son Jake in Colorado. Jake was the one who had carried the dead body out of the villa.
After two months, they had finally partially moved on from the event, and Jake remembered his dad’s final words and decided to check under the bed. Jonathan’s bedroom was kept untouched for the period. Jake entered the room and checked under the bed. Surprisingly, there was actually a potion packed tightly with cork inside a glass bottle.
Jake thought about this for the whole day, and at night before sleeping, he finally made a decision and took a sip from the bottle. He started feeling dizzy, and after a while, his dad actually appeared in the room. He could only see his dad clearly; the rest of the room was completely blurred out, like a portrait.
He broke down after seeing his dad and started crying. Then his dad said, “I know I have put you and your mom in trouble. Pardon me for that, but I have prepared some challenges for you. If you complete all of those, I can actually come back to life. You can find a purple file inside my table’s drawer. In that, you can find the challenges.” After saying this, he said bye and disappeared suddenly. Jake remained shocked.
Then he finally checked the drawer, and he actually found the purple file. The file had some fragments of paper; each of them had details of various mysteries of haunted venues, and Jake was instructed to solve them. With the help of the potion and his dad’s guidance, Jake solved six of those mysteries very easily.
One final level of these challenges was left. It was the mystery of the Blackveil Peak, which was considered to be a paranormal mountain. Jake had a very strong belief that completing these challenges would actually bring his dad back to life. It was even very well-calculated—a last sip of the potion was left inside the bottle, and the very last challenge was left to complete.
With the motive of bringing Jonathan back to life, he went for the mission. In his last meeting with his dad, his dad had said that he should take the last sip of the potion after climbing the 107th stair, before which he would find a landing. After he climbed that stair and stood at the landing, he took out the potion bottle, but just when he was about to sip it, his feet slipped, and the bottle broke. He also fell and got severely hurt on his head.
Luckily, he was rescued by some locals and taken to the hospital. He was examined by various doctors for a week in the hospital, and it was found that Jake was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and this mental condition made him hallucinate his dad after he felt dizzy by consuming that potion. He still tried escaping the hospital to find the potion and solve the final mystery, but he couldn’t. Then finally, he was sent to a psychiatric rehabilitation center for a treatment period of 18 months.
