The Tripura State Co-operative Bank (TSCB) authority have given a clarification over the recent controversy about the holding of banking recruitment exam in Silchar . Speaking to media persons in an interactive session the TSCB chairman Amal Kanti Sen and managing director Bhajan Chandra Roy said that the bank needed to recruit 156 strong staff comprising 50 officers, 78 clerks and 28 multitasking staff including women. Altogether 19,664 people had filed applications for these posts . Both chairman Amal Kanti Sen and MD Bhajan Chandra Roy said that they had initially selected Agartala as the site for exam but in the examination centres available at Agartala only 560 candidates could take exam in each shift.
The Bank and IBPS authority had made an attempt to accommodate all the women and physically handicapped candidates at Agartala and , accordingly, the exam for clerks ,multitasking staff and officers will be held at Agartala on May 3-5 at Agartala . On the first day the exam will come off at 5 centres at Agarala and on the second and third day the exams will come off in six centres each in online mode. But duo to lack of space and adequate number of centres the Bank as well as the IBPS authority can not take exams for remaining candidates at Agartala and they will have to take the exam in Silchar, Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Tezpur. Both the chairman and MD said that all their efforts to accommodate all the candidates at Agartala had failed to due to lack of space but this did not succeed due to lack of space and hence this time there is no alternative to taking part of exams outside the state . All arrangements in this regard have been made but still the bank authority expressed their regret over the issue.
