LS polls in East Tripura completely peaceful, 26 govt. employees suspended for violating election code of conduct, CEO

State Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal IAS has claimed that polling for East Tripura's Lok Sabha seat was completed peacefully today. Elections were free, fair and violence-free everywhere, said Shri Agarwal. However, 26 government officers and employees involved in Lok Sabha polls in West and East Tripura have been suspended for dereliction of duty for violating the electoral code of conduct. Two more people are under investigation. Two people including a presiding officer were suspended today. However, overall polling was peaceful in West and East Tripura Lok Sabha constituencies, the CEO said. However, he could not give this information tonight about the percentage of votes cast in the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat. However, the East Tripura loksabha election returning officer Saju Vaheed, IAS in a prees conference in Ambasa said that the average voter turnout was above 77 percent. He said that the full details will be known tomorrow.

Moreover, CEO said as many as 96 complaints related to the Lok Sabha polls of East Tripura have been filed. He said that all the complaints except three have been resolved.CEO said, according to the data obtained after the polling, it can be seen that more than 100 percent voting took place in two polling stations.

Booth No. 29 of the 25-Khowai Legislative Assembly polled 100.84 percent. The total number of voters in this polling station was 479. Among them, 461 votes have been cast. There are 22 votes in EDC. In total, 483 votes were cast in this booth. On the other hand, 121.97 percent votes were cast in Booth No. 67 of the 47-Ambasa Assembly Constituency. The total number of voters in this booth is 173. 159 of them have been voted. 62 votes were cast in EDC. In all, total votes are 211.The CEO and the RO of east Tripura loksabha election thanked and congratulated the police, central security forces, poll workers, media for conducting the polls peacefully.
