The PCC president and INDIA bloc candidate for West Tripura Loksabha seat, Asish Kumar Saha, said that despite largescale troubles created by ‘mafia elements’ under the banner of BJP in plainland areas, the INDIA boc will put up a better show in East Tripura (ST) Loksabha seat , election to which was held today. Asish who campaigned extensively in different parts of East Tripura said that the alleged miscreants and hooligans of BJP today had made a mockery of the election process in Hrishyamukh, Manu, Jolaibari, Teliamura, Khowai , Pabiacherra, Fatikroy, Dharma Nagar areas by driving away the polling agents of INDIA bloc candidate Rajendra Reang. “In these areas our polling agents had been prevented from entering the polling booths but in the interior tribal dominated constituencies the situation was better but still we are awaiting full inputs from other areas” said Asish.

He said that the role of police and election machinery in East Tripura today was slightly better than what it was in West Tripura on April 19 . “There was practically nobody to listen to our grievances on April 19 when most of my polling agents were either prevented from entering booths or forced out by threat and coercion” said Asish. To that extent the role of election authority and security was slightly better today said Asish . He also expressed his shock over inaction of the election commission over complaints made against irresponsible comments made by some ruling party leaders including Biplab Kumar Deb but said that better showing by INDIA boc in the elections at the national level will have a bearing on the poll and political scenario in Tripura.
