Fifteen voters injured in bee stings at Brabill area of Khowai constituency

In a bizarre incident on the polling day today a huge swarm of bees swooped on a long queue of voters in Barabill area under Khowai constituency in the namesake district. From morning the voters had been standing in a long queue waiting to cast their votes by pressing EVM buttons . But suddenly around 8-00 AM a huge swarm of bees from nearby areas came rushing in and swooped on the voters and stung a large number of them , inflicting on them injuries . Even as the fear-stricken voters ran helter skelter the bees pursued them and stung them. Finally the bees were driven away and the voters were treated by doctors in Khowai hospital where many of them had gone . Sources said that Fire Brigade and emergency service staff ha d rushed to the spot and shifted the bee-stung voters to the hospital from where they went back home after receiving treatment. This is the first time such a thing has happened in Tripura. Of course voting in the Barabill polling station resumed after a brief halt normally .
