Jiten files complaint against power minister Ratan Lal Nath with the RO of East Tripura (ST) LS seat

The CPI (M) state secretary and central committee member Ratan Lal Nath has filed a formal complaint with the returning officer of East Tripura (ST) Loksabha seat and DM (Dhalai) Saju Waheed against a speech of power minister Ratan Lal Nath in Cherma area of Khowai subdivision. According to latest information the returning officer has entrusted his assistant returning officer (ARO) with the responsibility for investigating the matter. In his letter of complaint Jiten has accused the power minister of having violated the prevalent model code of conduct (MCC) for the election.

Sources in the CPI (M) said that on Monday last Ratan Lal Nath had visited the Cherma village under Khowai subdivision , known to be a stronghold of the CPI (M) and had said in a meeting of BJP workers that among all the election booths the party workers who would be able to give the highest lead to BJP over the CPI (M) will be given Rs 2 lakhs as reward. “Achieve what I have said and then go to my home in Agartala to collect the Rs 2 lakhs I have announced as reward; that will be given you instantly” Ratan Lal Nath had said . This new containing the speech of Ratan Lal Nath had been reported quite prominently by two local dailies without inviting any contradiction or denial.

Yesterday , taking note of what had been reported the CPI (M) state secretary Jiten Chowdhury filed a complaint with the returning officer of East Tripura (ST) seat in the latter’s office in Dhalai , enclosing two clippings of the newspapers. Official sources from Dhalai said that the assistant returning officer (ARO) is investigating the matter and will soon filed a report to the RO regarding the veracity or otherwise of the complaint. If the complaint proves to be correct , Ratan Lal Nath is likely to be censured at the very least.
