The chief minister Dr Manik Saha yesterday predicted a higher voter turn-out in the election to the East Tripura Loksabha seat slated to come off on April 26 than the 82% polling percentage witnessed in West Tripura on April 19. “ In the whole country the voter turn-out in Wst Tripura LS seat last Friday has set a record in spite of the searing heat wave but I am sure on the basis of my campaign over the past few days that the East Tripura (ST) seat election on April 26 will improve that record because the polling percentage there will be higher” said chief minister Dr Manik Saha while addressing a poll rally in Teliamura yesterday.

Dr Saha said that there is only guarantee in the country which is the ‘Modi Guarantee’ and over the past decade of his tenure as prime minister Modiji has done a lot for the development and upliftment of the tribal people in the country. “For the first time since independence we now have a tribal President-thanks to Modiji’s vision for upliftment of tribals ; many special schemes are also being implemented for tribal development in the sectors of education, health , jobs etc; we should therefore strengthen the hands of Modiji by electing him as prime minister for the third consecutive time in the interest of tribal communities of the country” said the chief minister.

He called upon the big number of tribal and non-tribal audience that had turned up for the rally to cast votes in favour of BJP candidate Kriti Debi Debbarman as well as to persuade others to do so. “During the past so many years the CPI (M) and Congress have cheated the tribals of the state without doing anything concrete for their development but the BJP government over the past six years have taken many steps to ensure proper development of the tribals of Tripura” said Manik. He added that the tribals of the state had been converted into vote-bank by Congress and CPI (M) and the voters here need to support BJP candidate Kriti Debi Debbarman , keeping in mind the prime minister’s assertion that past ten years of his rule saw a stage of development which is just a trailer to what is waiting to come next.

Apart from the chief minister, yesterday’s meeting was also addressed by ‘Tipra Motha’ minister Animesh Debbarma, former deputy chief minister Jishnu Debbarman and ‘Motha’ MLA Ranjit Debbarma.
