The chief minister Dr Manik Saha yesterday lashed out at the erstwhile left front government for the economic mess to which they had pushed the state and the people of the state are now paying the price. “The left front while exiting from power had saddled us with an overall debt burden of Rs 12.90 thousand crores and a huge annual interest payment liability; we are trying to put the finances of the state back on rails” said the chief minister while addressing a rally in support of BJP’s East Tripura (ST) Loksabha constituency Kriti Debi Debbarman yesterday in the Jubaraj Nagar assembly segment under Dharma Nagar subdivision. The rally had been organised at the joint initiative of the Bagbasa and Jubaraj Nagar ‘Mandal’ of BJP.

Dr Saha said that while the left front had pushed the state back to backwardness and indebtedness the prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘HIRA’ model has already led to a revival of the state in terms of economic condition, development and creation of infrastructure. “The ongoing Loksabha election is very important for many reasons; it is the election to make Narendra Modi the prime minister for the third consecutive time; it is the time to turn India into ‘Vishwa Guru’ and this election will also lead to charting out a path for rapid development for the country to emerge as the largest economy in the world by the year 2047, the centenary year of our independence from British rule” said Dr Manik Saha.

He also dwelt at length on the development works already executed by the BJP led government including upgradation of infrastructure and said that because of the policies and programmes of the prime minister Narendra Modi, India now occupies a pride of place in the world arena and India’s voice is sought and heard by even the most powerful countries. “In the meeting addressed by the prime minister at Agartala on April 17 the prime minister had asserted that the development works done over the past ten years is only a ‘trailer’ as a tsunami of development is in the offing for the remaining years till 2047; we also have to work with this goal in mnd” said the chief minister.

He appealed to the voters in the East Tripura (ST) constituency to extend their full support to the BJP candidate Kriti Debi Debbarman in the interest of continuing development of Tripura and fulfillment of the aims and aspirations of the indigenous people. The chief minister asserted that it is BJP alone that can protect and further the economic interests of the indigenous people and safeguarding of their traditional culture and faith. Dr Saha appealed to all the voters of East Tripura to ensure a resounding victory for the BJP candidate Kriti Debi Debbarman on the April 26 election.
