Fifteen TSR companies are to be deployed outside the state for election duties

After performing duty in the state as a Central Armed Police Force, fifteen Companies of Tripura State Rifles are now set to move outside the state to discharge similar responsibilities. Tern Companies of TSR now performing duty in polling Booths in East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency will leave for Odissa after April 26.

The Union Home Ministry has earlier permitted ten Companies of TSR, a state force, to perform as a Central Armed Police Force and deployed in polling booths. Two ad-hoc Battalions have been constituted comprising five companies each for the benefit of their deployment. Earlier, another ad-hoc Battalion comprising five companies left for Maharashtra for election duties.

The Central Government has formed the Central Armed Police Force or CAPF comprising various central forces like BSF and CRPF. Some state forces also were included in it. The TSR was deployed in the state for guarding the Polling Stations. Previously, there were many allegations against the TSR while they were deployed in election duties, but this time no one raised an ant complaint against them.
