Three women from outside the state nabbed by police while carrying dry ‘Ganja’

The involvement of women in the carrying and transportation of contraband ‘Ganja’ (cannabis) seems to have registered a steep rise over the past few years. In the latest such incident three women were arrested by police with consignments of dry ‘Ganja’ . Giving details police sources said that acting on a tip off police personnel from East Agartala police station nabbed two women from Bihar identified later as Putul Debi and Sangita Debi who were carrying 8.4 kgs of dry ‘Ganja’ . They were arrested from the Jogendra Nagar railway station. The two women said that they were trying to carry the consignment up to their home state in Bihar.

In a separate incident the personnel of GRP and RPF caught another woman from Agartala railway station . A consignment of 29.740 kgs of ‘Ganja’ was recovered from her. In the course of interrogation the woman said that her name was Nazmina Begum (35) and she hails from Karbi Anglong area of Assam. All the nabbed women were sent to police remand after being produced in court and police sources said that they will be put through intensive interrogation for extracting more information.
