Tripura’s leading radiologist Dr Ashok Majumder no more, breathed his last on Thursday night

Tripura’s leading radiologist Dr Ashok Majumder (63) who ran his ‘Inner View’ diagnostic centre in Dhaleshwar area passed away last night in GBP hospital after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife Dr Nupur Debbarma who is still in service and a son and daughter. He had suffered a massive cardiac arrest last night in his home at Dhaleshwar area and was rushed to the GBP hospital but could not survive the attack and breathed his last in the ICU of the hospital. Dr Ashok Majumder had retired last year after a year of extended service as radiologist in GBP hospital . His cremation is being done today after the arrival of his son and daughter from Pondicherry and Calcutta.

Dr Ashok Majumder was a student of Bardowali HS school and then Umakanta Academy school and then studied MBBS and MB (Radiology) outside the state before being posted as a doctor in Tripura Health Service. Shortly after joining service he got married to Dr Nupur Debbarma and both of them served in different parts of the state before finally being posted as specialists in GBP and IGM hospitals. His married daughter is also an MD (Dermatologist) while his son is now doing his internship in Pondicherry after completing his MBBS there.

Senior doctors and all medical professionals as well as the Tripura chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) have expressed their anguish over the death of Dr Ashok Majumder, describing him as an ‘ideal professional dedicated to service’. All his friends and associates including patients have also paid tributes to him as a good and sympathetic doctor.
