Unnatural deaths continued, three yearold boy dies by drowning , youth killed in motor bike accident

Tripura’s tryst with unnatural deaths-either by accident or otherwise- continues unabated. In a heart rending incident a three yearold boy died by drowning in a water tank in the residence of his grand father at Dhaliakandi panchayat under Kailasahar police station in Unakoti district. Police sources said that little Saiful Ali, son of Yusuf Ali of the same panchayat , had gone to his nearby grand father’s house on last Wednesday. Unnoticed by anyone Saiful had gone to the water tank of the house and slipped into it around 12-30 in the afternoon. After sometime his grand parents started searching for Saiful and found him floating lifeless in the water tank. He was taken to nearby government health centre but was declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctor on duty. Saiful’s death has cast a shadow of grief all over the Dhaliakandi panchayat.

In a separate incident a youth identified as Subhanakar Das (23) died after his motor bike had hit hard the hind side of a speeding auto-rickshaw at Durga Chowdhury para area under Bodhjungnagar police station. Police sources said that Subhankar had attended a marriage function on last Wednesday night and was returning home on his motor bike . On the way back home his bike hit an autorickshaw and he skidded off the road. Subhankar was taken to GBP hospital by local people but the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’. Subhankar was a resident of Kalitola area. Two autorickshaw passengers Payal Das (12) and Puja Acharjee (17) sustained injuries are still in hospital . Police sources said that both the motor bike and the autorickshaw had been seized for involvement in the fatal accident.
