Buddhists in Tripura have protested against the reported inclusion of non-Buddhists in the managing committee of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara in Bodh gaya and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Bihar demanding immediate correction of the mistake. The memorandum is being submitted through DM, SDM and BDOs of their respective areas.
A joint delegation of Venuban Bihar, Prachya Vidya Bihar of Abhoynagar and the Buddha Kalyan Samity has submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate of West Tripura District. The memorandum said all the religious places across the country are managed by the people belonging to that faith only but an exception has been made in case of Buddha Gaya, the highest religious place of Buddhists.
The memorandum demanded immediate removal of non-Buddhists from the committee. They said Buddhaists perform certain rituals and follow some practices which people from other faiths can’t follow properly.
