Seminar on project for ‘Clean Energy Transition and Electricity Governance’ held in Agartala Press Club

At a time when the government of India is taking lead at global level in transiting to clean energy the Tripura based ‘Consumer Protection Association’ led by advocate Amrit Lal Saha in collaboration with the Chennai based ‘Civic Action Group’ (CAG) held a seminar on the project for ‘Clean Energy Transition and Electricity Governance’ today in Agartala Press Club. This is a project to facilitate transition to clean energy from generation of power by fossil fuel.
The minister for power Ratan Lal Nath who could not attend the seminar sent a message putting emphasis on the need for rapid transition to clean energy, saying the project aims at ‘boosting clean energy transition in India by enhancing stakeholder engagement in electricity governance’. He also referred to the launching of ‘The Energy Vision 2030 Roadmap’ by the government of Tripura in July 2023 which aims at achieving sustainable growth with affordability, availability and reliability of energy supply.
The power secretary Abhishek Singh who attended the seminar also highlighted in detail in his message the urgent need for transition to clean energy from energy generated by fossil fuel and how they sustain the environment . He also described how growing access to electricity serves as an index of development of a constituent state and country. Those who addressed the seminar included B.Kirubaran , CAG Chennai, presidential address was delivered by advocate Amrit Lal Saha, Nirmal Debnath, senior manager TSECL, power secretary Abhishek Singh delivered the keynote address. The TSECL manager Arpita Chakraborty also addressed the seminar. There was also a session with media for questions and answers.
