Feud between two families over drug peddling and business rivalry , nine injured

Drug peddling and business rivalry over this have reached alarming proportions. This became evident in the Bhlagiri area closed to the nerve centre of the state government , the secretariat in new capital complex. Police sources said that two families living almost side by side in the Bholagiri area had a longstanding rivalry over drug business and the heads of the two families Jakir Hossain and Abhijeet Deb had been at logger head over a long time.

On late Sunday night the family of Jakir Hossain led by Shahjahan Mia and his accomplices had launched an allegedly unprovoked attack on the family of Abhijeet Deb. In the resultant clash altogether nine members belonging to both the families had sustained serious injuries. The family members of fugitive Abhijeet Deb later filed a complaint with the police in New Capital Complex police station accusing Jakir Hossain, Shahjahan Mia and other members of their family of attacking them and causing injuries.

Sources said that within moments of receiving information about the attack and violence the SP (west) Kiran Kumar K. rushed to the spot with a large force and controlled the situation. The area is still under heavy police patrolling and no more untoward incident has been reported . The SP (west) said that investigation has been launched against both the families and the culprits will be arrested soon. The nine persons injured in the clash are undergoing treatment in GBP hospital.
