In a heart rending incident Tripura’s leading entrepreneur Kanak Jain (59) breathed his last after his car had met with a serious accident on the national highway from Jaipur in Rajasthan to his home town in Churu district headquarter midnight last night. Sources close to him said that Kanak, son of businessman Milap Chand Jain who had launched the famous ‘Parshwanath Stores’ in Agartala’s central road, had left for Delhi by plane yesterday en route to Churu via Jaypur in his home state Rajasthan. After reaching Delhi safely he had headed for Jaipur in Rajasthan and from there he had headed for Churu by a vehicle . Midway between Jaipur and Churu the vehicle in which he had been travelling collided directly with an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction. Under the impact of the collision Kanak’s car overturned and he died on the spot from the injuries sustained and later he was pronounced ‘brought dead’ after being taken to hospital.
Besides being a businessman and entrepreneur registered with the industry and power department, Kanak Jain had been a cultured man and a social activist who would regularly contribute to various cultural events in the state. He was also a very popular man with his friends and associates because of his generous nature . Kanak was also closely associated with the Tripurainfo.com and used to help the web portal venture in organizing popular event like the ‘All Tripura Open Mega Quiz’ by generously contributing annually to the programme.
The MD of Tripurainfo.com Jayanta Debnath expressed his profound shock and grief over the untimely death of Kanak Jain , describing this as an ‘irreparable loss’ for the state. He recalled Kanak Jain’s positive attitude and spirit and his enthusiasm for cultural activism and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. “It is so painful to think that his ancestors from Rajasthan had made remote Tripura their home and he had also become a Tripurite by upbringing and cultural moorings; we will never forget him” said Jayanta Debnath.
