BJP general secretary Dushwant Gautam takes part in membership enrollment programme

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruling the state and centre have put great emphasis on enrolling more and more members in the party despite the fact that the party is already the world’s largest political unit. In Tripura also the leaders , office-bearers and workers of the party have been moving from door to door to enroll as many members as possible though, according to feedback from the grassroot level, the response to the membership drive has not been as encouraging as it was expected to be.

Possibly keeping this mind the BJP’s all India general secretary Dushwant Kumar Gautam arrived here to take part in membership drive of the party as well as to inspirit the local leaders and workers to go whole hog for enrolling more and more members. Accompanied by the AMC Mayor and MLA from Ram Nagar assembly constituency Dipak Majumder, Dushwant Gautam today visited the border Gol Chakkar area to persuade individuals and families to take part in the membership drive so that more and more people register themselves as BJP members. The president of the Ram Nagar ‘Mandal’ Tapas Deb also remained with them all through.

In the course of his campaign from door to door Dushwant Gautam explained to people the policies and programmes of BJP in brief and the benefits to be accrued to them as party members. Most the people including their family members responded positively to the persuasion of Dipak Majumder and Dushwant Gautam and became members . Sources in BJP said that the party workers were greatly enthused by the gesture of Dushwant Gautam and kept on their work on membership drive with great enthusiasm.
