TGB launches solar powered mobile banking van in Itanagar , to expand soon to other states

The union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman this morning inaugurated the very first ‘Solar Powered Mobile Banking Van’ named ‘TGB on Wheels’ of the Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) in Itanagar, capital of the state of Arunachal Pradesh. With the support of NABARD the TGB has been able to launch this solar powered vehicle to provide easier banking service to the people. The ‘TGB on Wheels’ comprises Mobile ATM and Banking Correspondent service which is fully operated by solar power and this will provide easier access to banking service to the people of the state , specially in remote areas where making availability of such service is difficult even in normal circumstances.
Apart from this, other programmes launched in Itanagar this morning included credit outreach programme, distribution of sanction letters to beneficiaries, launch of Micro enterprise Promotion Programme (MEPP) in two districts of Arunachal Pradesh. This was added by the launching of credit linkage financial inclusion and rural innovative and farm sector promotion project and flagging off ambulances and vehicles donated by Punjab National Bank (PNB), State Bank of India (SBI), NABARD, SIDBI etc.
Sources from TGB said that yesterday a review meeting of the 7 regional rural banks (RRBs) of northeastern region was made in the civil secretariat conference hall of Itanagar, capital of Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting was chaired by the union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and was attended by DFS secretary M.Nagaraju. The other dignitaries present in the meeting included Atul Kumar Goel, MD and CEO of Punjab National Bank (PNB), C.S.Shetty, chairman SBI, Apurba Roy, secretary finance of Tripura government, Satyendra Singh, chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank, Chairmen of other RRBs of northeast and other eminent personalities. The review meeting was a grand success.
