Four arrested for lynching of college going youth

Police had arrested as many as four persons for their alleged involvement in lynching of a 20-year-old youth in Agartala's Rajib Chowmuhani area, an official said on Thursday. According to Officer-In-Charge of Amtali Police Station Srikanta Bardhan, four out of the six accused persons named in the FIR are in police remand.

“We have arrested two persons earlier. On Wednesday night, two more accused persons had been arrested based on secret information from Badarghat area. They are identified as Jayanta Debnath and Santanu Sen. One person identified as Shiban Sen is absconding since the day of incident and he is stated to be the prime accused. A man hunt is underway to trace him,” he added.

Sharing details of the incident, the police official said, “The incident occurred on the night of Viswakarma Puja. The victim Subhankar Saha was mercilessly thrashed. He was rushed to local hospital with severe wounds. A day after, he breathed his last. We have been trying hard to make sure that all the accused persons are arrested.”
