Cranes to be introduced for idol immersion at Dashamighat

The ongoing renovation work in the Dashamighat area is underway in full swing ahead of the festive season. The construction agency is hoping to accomplish the remainder of the work by October 05.

“We are running late because of the disruptions caused by the rains and floods. We could have completed the work on September 30. All the work left now is related to fine tuning and giving final touch-ups. The whole surface is under open sky, so when it rains, we have to stop the work,” said an official of the construction agency.

He said that under the renovation plan, a space for car parking is demarcated, and two cranes could operate simultaneously for immersion of idols.

“Earlier ramps were used for immersion of idols. This time, cranes will be used for this purpose. The space has been designed and developed in such a way that two cranes could be put into function simultaneously for immersion of the idols,” he added.
