Tripura BJP enrolled 4.5 lakh members: State Chief

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has enrolled as many as 4.5 lakh members from different parts of the state till September 24. The party officially started collection of memberships as a part of the national level exercise on September 03 last, BJP Tripura Pradesh President Rajib Bhattacharjee told media persons.

Briefing the media persons on the sidelines of the birth anniversary observance of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, he said, “Today is a very special day for the all party workers and hence we have launched a special membership collection drive in all the booths of the state. So far, we have enrolled 4.5 lakh members in our party. I hope we shall be able to achieve the target set by our party.” It should be noted here that the ruling BJP has set a target of 12 lakh total membership in the state.According to Bhattacharjee, the 15-day window between September 17 to October 02 is being observed as “Seva Pakshik".

“Multiple social service initiatives have been taken into hands during this period starting from blood donation camp to Swachata drives,” he added. All the senior leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party gathered at the party headquarters on Wednesday to pay tributes to the Jan Sangh ideologue and proponent of “integral humanism” Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.
