Minister Sudhangshu Das gheraoed by secular Congressmen on way to state assembly

The young minister for animal resource development Sudhanshu Das has of late drawn flaks for a comment in social media on lack of appropriate response from local Hindus to the inhuman persecution of minority Hindus in Bangladesh in the wake of the mob coup in that country on August 5. Expectedly the seculars across parties and intellectual spectrum felt aghast and castigated Sudhangshu for his comment which the minister within a short while deleted.

But the lingering effects of the comment was on view today as a group of rag tag Congressmen who have a token presence only in the state capital today staged a pre-planned drama by trying to gherao the minister in front of his official residence in the officers quarter lane in Rabindra Pally area. As soon as the minister left his quarter for his waiting vehicle to reach the state assembly, the group of Congressmen with righteous indignation stood around him and charged him with effort to communalise the situation in Tripura. Sudhangshu remained unfazed and countered the contrived secular arguments of the Congressmen, asserting that he had not targeted any individual or community through his social media post but had made an observation.

The arguments and counter-arguments went on a for a short while and then the security officers of the minister gently pushed aside the agitated Congressmen and paved the way for the minister to board his waiting vehicle. He then left for the assembly without much ado.
