Student protest against shortage of teachers and their unplanned transfer have been creating problems in many parts of the state but the department of education , presumably bowing to political pressure, never try to have the problem resolved once for all . In yet another incident of student protest all the students of Pramod Nagar higher secondary school near Bisramganj in Sepahijala district this morning launched a road blockade on the Agartala-Sabroom road to protest the transfer of popular english and science teacher Mousumi Debbarma without any replacement.

In consequence of the blockade hundreds of vehicles on both sides of the Agartala-Sabroom highway got stranded. As the news about the blockade spread fast the district education officer Malay Bhowmik , accompanied by other officials appeared on the spot and spoke to the blockading students . The students said that Mousumi Debbarma is the lone english teacher who also teaches science and is very popular and that they will never accept her transfer from the Pramod Nagar higher secondary school.

After hearing the pleas of students the DEO Malay Bhowmi asked the students to submit a mass petition mentioning why they oppose the transfer of Mousumi Debbarma. The students agreed and lifted the blockade giving free passage to vehicles on both sides. Sources from Bisramganj said that the students have already submitted the petition to the district education officer who has put it forward to higher authorities with his comments that the transfer should be kept in abeyance for the time being.
