Belonia to Feni four lane road soon: Bangladesh envoy Arif Mohammad

Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner posted at Agartala Arif Mohammad today said that the existing highway connecting Tripura’s Belonia to Bangladesh’s Feni district would soon be converted into a four lane road in order to further boost the movement of passengers and goods through the historic town. Belonia is one of the historical trade points located in the borders of India and Bangladesh which had been used for communication, transport and other connectivity purposes in the since the pre-independence period. Speaking to media persons during his impromptu visit to Belonia, the Bangladesh official said, “The trade relations between India and Bangladesh have only seen improvement in the last several decades. In the days to come, new avenues of trade are opening between Tripura and Bangladesh. The Maitri Setu is all set for traffic movement. The railway link has also come into operation. And, the contract has been awarded to the construction agency to convert the existing road between Belonia and Feni into a world class four lane road”. Earlier, the officials of the Bangladesh assistant high commissioner reached Belonia in the morning. BMC Councilors Anupam Chakraborty and Babul Bhowmik welcomed the officials and greeted them. He had visited the Belonia land custom station, Custom office and the peripheries of the borders. He assured that trade through Muhurighat shall scale new heights in the days to come.
