Attempt to murder suspected police informer in Bisramganj police station area

In an incident which portends ill for the future a gang of ‘Ganja’ (cannabis) smugglers yesterday made a futile bid to murder a suspected police informer but ended up inflicting serious injuries on him in Rongmala-Kali Bazar road area under Bisramganj police station. Police sources said that yesterday a large police party and CRPF jawans had destroyed ‘Ganja’ estates in Rongmala area . After the operation of destruction was over as many as eight miscreants who had created the ‘Ganja’ cultivation on government owned forest land found a youth Bidhan Majumder (28) on the Rongmala Kali Bazar area and pounced on him with matchets and other sharpl-cutting weapons.

The miscreants thought that Bidhan Majumder had given information about their ‘Ganja’ cultivation in Rongmala, Taijiling and Kali Bazar area. Acting on the information police destroyed three ‘Ganja’ cultivations and after information of the attack on Bidhan Majumder had spread, local people evacuated Bidhan to Bisramganj hospital . Since Bidhan had managed to escape with minor injuries he filed a FIR with the Bisramganj police station , naming Jitu Debnath, Abhu Das, Bapi Bhowmik and five others . Sources said that police have launched a manhunt to nab the all eight miscreants and assailants on Bidhan Majumder who said that unless all the miscreants were arrested his life would be under threat. Bishan also denied having been working for police as informer.
