Political violence continues on low-key, Congress worker attacked by Booth president , tries to commit suicide for insult

A Congress worker tried to commit suicide by consuming poison in Khowai after being roughed up by a Booth president of BJP yesterday. He is under treatment currently in GBP hospital , Agartala . Police sources from Khowai said that yesterday in the evening a Congress worker known as Manik Mia (35) was returning home to Bankar area on the embankment of Khowai river from the Congress Bhawan in the evening. Suddenly Shibabrata Roy alias Shibu, president of Booth no-5 of BJP, and his accomplices pounced on Manik Mia and severely beat him up. The beating continued in front of the family members of Manik Mia but they were powerless to do anything in front of the aggressive and well-armed BJP miscreants. After the BJP miscreants had left , Manik Mia could not stomach the insult and consumed toxic pesticide after entering his room.

Manik Mia’s family members admitted him to Khowai hospital from where he was referred to GBP hospital, Agartala . He is under treatment in serious condition.
