KVK Sepahijala Organized World Environment Day

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized World Environment Day at Community hall, Golaghati, Bishalgarh block, Sepahijala Tripura on 5th June, 2023. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. The main objective of the celebration for this year is to focus on Solutions to Plastic Pollution and to aware farmers and citizen about the harmful effect of plastic pollution.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Tridip Sarkar, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Bishalgarh; Shri Pallab Chakraborty, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer, Bishalgarh; Shri Krishnadhan Saha, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala; Prof. (Dr) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra ; Sri Pradip Baran Roy, President, All Tripura Farmers Club, Tripura; Shri Nishi Kanta Shil, Gram Pradhan, Golaghati GP, Sepahijala; in presence of Shri Litan Malakar, Upa-Pradhan, Golaghati GP, Sepahijala; Shri Chabi Debbarma, Panchayet Secretary, Golaghati; Dr Utpal Dey, Head (I/C), KVK Sepahijala,; Dr Joy Kumar Dey, SMS (Agronomy), KVK, Sepahijala; Dr A. Pushparani Devi, SMS (Horticulture), KVK, Sepahijala; Mr Ramanuj Chakraborty, SMS (Fisheries), KVK, Sepahijala; Ms. Maisnam Luwangleima, SMS (Agril Engg), KVK, Sepahijala and all other staff of KVK Sepahijala, farmers and farm women of the village.

The programme started with plantation of seven treebean plants by the dignitaries and lighting of lamp. Welcome address was given by Dr. Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection) & Head (I/C), KVK, Sepahijala and also enlightened the significance of the day.

Prof (Dr.) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra briefed the program and its objective ‘Solutions to Plastic Pollution’, way out to avoid the single use plastics and to reduce plastic pollution.

Shri Krishnadhan Saha, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala discussed about the pollutants and chemical content in plastics that ultimate effect to human, animal and economy.

Sri Pradip Baran Roy, President, All Tripura Farmers Club, Tripura narrated about our duties to act to save the environment and inspired for raising awareness on environmental issues as plastic pollution and global warming etc.

Shri Pallab Chakraborty, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer, Bishalgarh, Sepahijala shared his knowledge to beat the plastic pollution through lifestyle and encouraged for more plantation of trees and shared about alternative solution instead of plastic.

Shri Tridip Sarkar, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Bishalgarh, Sepahijala encouraged famers to form better environment, health & future that will bring wealth to society, to work on community basis to clean up the village, planting the trees and make aware about environmental crisis.

The programme was organized under the supervision of Prof (Dr) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra and direction of Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head of this KVK. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Joy Kumar Dey, SMS (Agronomy), KVK, Sepahijala. A total of 102 farmers, farm women and rural youth from the village of Sepahijala district actively participated in the programme and interacted with dignitaries. In the programme, treebean, lotkon and amla saplings (102 nos each tree spalings) were distributed among the participants.
