Sushanta describes blood donation as life saving humanitarian act, calls upon workers to be steely in their resolve

The minister for food and transport Sushanta described blood donation as a humanitarian act for saving lives of patients and those who need it. “Our identity as real human being proved when we voluntarily go forward to donate blood for a dying patient ; by donating blood we can make up the deficit in blood supply in hospitals and help save lives ; we what you are doing today is a highly humanitarian act” said Sushanta. He was addressing a gathering of ONGC workers in their first biennial conference in the auditorium of Tripura’s ONGC asset in Badharghat area.

As guest of honour Sushanta said that even though science and technology have made major advances the means of producing human blood artificially has not yet been invented . So we are to make voluntary donation of blood to save precious lives and ‘this is the most sacred and pious duty on our part. He also appealed to all youths, grown up students and able-bodies men and women to come forward to donate blood voluntarily to save lives which he described as the ‘noblest task’.

Sushanta also conveyed his best wishes to the ONGC workers union on the occasion of their first biennial conference and said that they must stand solidly stand united in spite of possible efforts to break their unity. “You can rest assured that there will be efforts on the part of mischievous elements to divide you and split your organization but you have to maintain your steely resolve to keep up your unity and togetherness in common interest” said Sushanta. He also expressed the hope that the workers of ONGC will work hard to ensure full potential of the state being explored by ONGC is realized soon.

The other important guests present in today’s conference were the AMC chairman Dipak Majumder, BJP state president Rajeev Bhattacharjee, the MLA of Badharghat Meena Rani Sarkar, MLA from Bagma Rampada Jamatya, ONGC’s executive director and asset manager Tarun Malik , DGM Krishna Kumar, ONGC workers union president Nitai Debnath and general secretary Birchandra Debbarma etc.
