Fed up with the extortion of some mafia close to the BJP, a large section of local businessmen blocked the road in Kalamchoura yesterday.

Complaints from the business community have exceeded the extortionate levels of the extortion for several days today. According to reports from Kalamchoura is that, various anti-social activities including extortion by some anti-social persons have drastically increased since the 2023 state assembly elections across the northern part of Boxanagar assembly constituency. At a place called Laddubari in the area, those miscreants are sitting on the roadside every day, stopping various freight vehicles and collecting extortion. A section of the business community is disoriented in this incident. Frustrated by this, local business man sat on a road blockade on Tuesday next to the North Kalamchoura market. They mentioned the names of the extortionists and brought forward the allegations of extortion to the local police and BJP leadership. However, according to their claim, the police station administration is completely inactive in these routine incidents. Allegedly, the local police administration has become a puppet in the hands of BJP-backed cadavers. But to get rid of such unstable environment and to be able to live comfortably with their families, the traders have chosen the road blockade as the last weapon. However, at the end of the Agartala-Sonamura road blockade of about three and a half hours, the businessmen lifted the blockade with various assurances from Kalamchoura police station and mandal president Subhash Chandra Saha. But the police have not arrested anyone yet.
