State-level Biju Festival to be held at Agartala for the first time from April 13 to 15

The state-level Biju Festival is going to be observed in Agartala for the first time. The 49th State-level Bju Festival will be organized at Astabal Maidan for three days from April 13. A meeting in the conference hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate presided over by the Minister for Commerce and Industries Santana Chakma has reviewed the preparations of the festival. Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das, Chairman of the Biju Mela Development Society MLA Sambhu Lal Chakma, MDC Bimal Chakma, secretary of Fire Service Departments Tushar Kanti Chakma, DM in-charge of West Tripura District Tarit Kanti Chakma, Rajjya Karbari of Chakma Samajik Parishad Debjan Chakma and other officials attended the meeting.

Minister Santana Chakma told the meeting that Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura can be achieved only through the development of art and culture of all the smaller communities and groups. She called the officials to look into the festival from that angle and to take all necessary steps to ensure success.

A preparatory committee also was formed under the chairmanship of the Food Minister Sushanta Choudhury, Minister for Youth Affairs Tinku Roy and ARD Minister Sudhangshu Das are vice-chairmen of the committee. Mayor Dipak Majumder is the convenor of the committee while Deputy Mayor Manika Das is the Joint Convenor.
