In a disgraceful incident a so-called ‘Sadhu’ of Iskcon ‘Ashram’, Agartala known as Sriram Gobinda Das alias Sridhan Panigrahi was granted bail yesterday by the judicial magistrate Farhad Islam on submission of a bail bond of Rs 20 thousand and a surety. Sridham Gobinda Das had surrendered yesterday the judicial magistrate’s court (west) after being charged with molestation by a fellow female saint of Iskcon ‘Ashram’ towards the end of 2021 and after remaining absconding for more than a year. However, his accomplice Krishna Radhakanta Prabhu or Krishna Barman still remains absconding.

Sources from Iskcon said that after arriving here on mission duty Sridham Gobinda Das had earned considerable notoriety for his misbehaviour with all and sundry in the Iskcon ‘Ashram’ and ill-treatment of all . Despite complaints to higher authority in the ‘Ashram’ no action was taken against him. After he and his accomplice Krishna Barman had molested a fellow female ‘Sanyasi’ of the ‘Ashram’ towards the end of 2021 Sridham Gobinda Das had tried various means , threats and intimidation to have the case registered as FIR withdrawn and even the police personnel of East Agartala station had tried to persuade the victim female ‘Sanyasi’ to withdrawn the complaint but the lady stood her ground. Gobinda Das had then fled Agartala and started persuading a minister to save him from arrest. But nothing worked and finally he surrendered yesterday and obtained bail from the magistrate’s court even though his accomplice Krishna Barman is still absconding.
