True to their traditional style the ruling BJP is flooding Tripura with a glut of leaders for boosting the party’s campaign for the February 16 assembly elections. The UP chief minister Yodi Adityanath has addressed a meeting at Bagbassa in Dharma Nagar subdivision and is scheduled to address more meetings in different parts of the state dominated by voters belonging to the Nath community. The defence minister Rajnath Singh addressed a meeting in Kailasahar in favour of the party candidate Mobassar Ali while Himanta Biswa Sarma was in minority dominated Sonamura subdivision for party candidates including Debabrata Bhattacharjee who has got the BJP nomination from Sonamura town seat.

All the leaders spoke of lack of development and politics of terror during the long thirty five year rule of left front and the anarchy that prevailed in the state during the five year rule of the Congress-TUJS coalition government. Notably , none of the leaders spoke much on the so-called achievements of the BJP government in Tripura over the past five years but concentrated on the benefits accrued to people from the pro-people schemes introduced by the central government headed by the prime minister Narendra Modi. This includes ‘Ayushman Bharat’, PMAY, Toilet, ‘Kisan Vikash Yojana’, ‘Fasal Bimna Yojana’ minority welfare schemes and a host of other schemes.

Sources said that in the coming days more central ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states will land in Tripura to campaign for the party candidates in the February 16 assembly election . The prime minister Narendra Modi will also address two election meetings in Tripura on February 11 and 13.
