Miffed by unreasonable demands for seats being made by the Congress, the CPI (M) leadership will declare their list of nominations for the assembly polls tomorrow in an interaction with the media. A final decision in this regard has been taken by the CPI (M) state committee in a meeting held today in presence of the party’s all India general secretary and politburo member Sitaram Yechudi. Highly placed sources in the CPI (M) said that a few seats where Congress has a reasonable chance to win will be left vacant in the list of nominations that will be announced tomorrow.

Sources said that the CPI (M) is aware of the results of the survey conducted by all parties as well as inputs gathered and considering all this the list of the nominations, keeping slots open for the Congress will be declared tomorrow. “The problem of the Congress is that there are too many aspirants for them to accommodate but by conceding ground on this we can not spoil our bright electoral prospects; they are also claiming seats where we have sitting MLAs but even then we can adjust at least in one case but so many people can not be accommodated and conceding seats without any winning chances will be suicidal for the opposition” said a senior leader of the party. He said that in the current ground situation the CPI (M) can win as many as 40 seats even on its own without allying with any other party.

This haggling over seats has also been brought to the notice of Congress’s central leadership and it is likely that AICC will intervene at the last moment and pressure the state Congress’s impractical leadership to climb down from unreasonable demands.
