Jishnu stresses strengthening the rural economy

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma said the present government in the state is giving priority to the development of villages as the nation can proceed only when the rural economy is strengthened. He was addressing a gathering at Lalsinghmura to mark the Gram Diwas. He said the aim of the government is to build a strong infrastructure for the villages so that every village becomes self-sufficient.

He said the government is stressing on making each of the women self-reliant through Self Help groups. He said the government is trying to ensure the availability of all facilities through the Sushasan program and urged people to make the best use of it.

On the day the Deputy Chief Minister distributed bi-cycle among the students, health kits among the expected mothers, and various items to the self-help groups. An exhibition also was organized where various departments had opened stalls.
