The Foundation stone for the first Buddhist University of the country laid down at Manu Bankul in Sabroom

The foundation stone of the country’s first Buddhist University was laid down at Manu Bankul at Sabroom in South Tripura District. Ven Shakya Gasan, Chief Monk of the World Buddhist Pope Organisation who came from the Republic of Korea laid down the foundation stone of the Dhamma Dipa International Buddhist University.

Ven Dr Dhammapiya, Chairman of Bahujan Hitaya Educational Trust that is running the university, local MLA Shankar Roy, and many other monks came from various parts of the country and abroad were present. Addressing the occasion the Monks recalled the age-old spiritual bonding among the people of the region.

Ven Dhammapiya appreciated the cooperation extended by the state government for the establishment of the university in many ways including the allocation of 25 agars of land with an assurance of more in the future.

Dalai Lama sent a message on the occasion and expressed happiness that a Buddhist university is coming up in this place.
