The CPI (M) party office, once a bustling centre of political activities , was reopened yesterday amid great enthusiasm in Baidya Dighi area of Bishalgarh. Shortly after coming to power in 2018 the BJP miscreants had closed down many part offices of Congress and CPI (M) and the Baidya Dighi office of CPI (M) was one of them. The reopening ceremony was attended by sitting CPI (M) MLA and former finance minister Bhanulal Saha, state committee member Siddhiqur Rahaman, the Bishalgarh subdivisional committee secretary of the party Partha Pratim Majumder and DYFI leader Tapan Debnath.

Speaking on the occasion Bhanulal Saha said that over the past four and half years the party had made many attempts to reopen the office but could not because of the terror tactics of the BJP. He also rued the fact that the reopened party office used to be a centre for helping out poor people. “We gradually realized that unless the workers took an initiative to make the office operational again BJP will continue to hold not only the party office but also the entire people to ransom; so we have reopened the office” said Bhanulal.

He said that for the 2023 assembly election the CPI (M) party will carry on its campaign and activities from this office. Bhanulal described the the ‘reign of terror’ unleashed by BJP as worse than what the Congress-TUJS coalition government did in 1988-1993. He called upon the party workers as well as common people to remain united and determined to rid the state of the BJP menace.
