Assembly election : two officers of election commission arrive in state with suggestions and directives

The bell of upcoming assembly election tentatively slated to come off in the second part of February next year seems to be tolling . Two senior officials of the central election commission arrived here yesterday on a two day visit as part of the commission’s preparations for holding the polls. Sources in the state election department said that senior deputy election commissioners R.K.Gupta and Nitish Kumar Baishya arrived here yesterday to oversee preparatory work for the upcoming polls. The two officials with state election commissioner Kiran Gittey held a meeting of all the DMs and SPs in the state guest house where they explained to the state officers on how best to conduct their duties. Sources said that the two officers held a series of meetings in a phased manner with police and civil administration officials of the state regarding the tasks to be completed for a free and fair election.

The two officers will return to Delhi is this evening and brief the central election commission about the pre-poll scenario in Tripura and then further action will be taken . Many more officials will come to the state in the coming days to assess the situation.
