Prominent music artist of the state Piyali Chowdhury assaulted

BJP miscreants physically assaulted Piyali Chowdhury, a prominent music artist and teacher of layoff 10323 of the state yesterday afternoon. Piyali Chowdhury was a CPI M candidate in the last municipal elections. She was returning from a meeting of former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar from Dukli. She was allegedly beaten down brutally infront of police. She is now under treatment in the hospital.

Piyali is the wife of Samir Dhar, who has been associated with the news world for more than forty years in the state. Samir Dhar and his family was attacked twice since 2018 after coming this new Government. Samir Dhar is younger brother of former CPIM state secretary Bijan Dhar.

It is reported that apart from artist Piyali Chowdhury, several CPIM supporters including several local people and pedestrians were also assaulted by BJP miscreants yesterday.

Amid state-wide publicity campaigns for good governance, the manner in which artist Piyali Didimani has been assaulted infront of police personnel has raised questions as to whether this type of brutal attacks can be take place to a renowned artist infront of police in any civilized country?

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar condemned this incident. He also visit IGM hospital where Piyali Chowdhury is admitted for treatment.
