Awareness programme of Police Accountability Commission (PAC), Justice (retired) Swapan Chandra Das stresses the importance of police-public co-operation

The honourable high court justice (retired) and incumbent chairman of the police accountability commission (PAC) Swapan Chandra Das put emphasis on close co-operation between members of public and police for better maintenance of law and order and overall development of the state. “Society can go ahead only when law and order is perfectly in force ; it is the primary obligation of the state to maintain law and order, peace and tranquility which can be maintained only in case the police work efficiently and general public also come forward to aid the police “ said Justice (retired) Swapan Chandra Das. He also said that in a democratic country all should abide by the law and no development in any sphere is possible if law and order is not maintained in the society. He also pointed out the contrast between the oppressive police force under the imperial British government and the pro-people police force in independent India and asserted that it is the duty of the people to come forward and aid the police force.
Justice (retired) Swapan Chandra Das was addressing a seminar on awareness programme under the title of ‘Police Public Relations to Enforce Laws’ organized by an NGO under the banner of ‘Sahayika Mahila Samajik Samstha’ in the conference hall of local Blood Mouth club on August 10 in his capacity as chairman of the PAC. Besides Justice (retired) Swapan Chandra Das, the programme was attended and addressed by G.K.Rao, member of PAC, Saradindu Bhattacharjee , secretary PAC, R.Das, deputy SP PAC, Jiban Das, SI West Agartala PS, Chandrika Basu Majumder, president of the NGO and Bimal Roychowdhury, former star footballer and president of the Blood Mouth Club. The programme was a grand success.
