Two more deaths reported with 109 positive cases in past 24-hrs

In continuation of declining trend of Covid infection, the overall positivity rate on Friday slightly increased, but registered two more deaths due to the infection and has detected 109 more positive cases from eight districts of the state.

After conducting 1,756 swab sample tests, altogether 109 positive cases detected with two more deaths in past 24-hours and among all positive cases again the South Tripura district has detected the highest number of cases and once the worst affected areas of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and West Tripura district detected less positive cases in comparison to districts like Gomati.

In view of the rising fresh cases of Covid-19, the Tripura government has taken several steps including making wearing of face masks mandatory in public places from July 12 and now, massive mask enforcement drives with awareness initiated, but the positivity rate in the state fluctuating daily and on Friday again positivity rate slightly increased to 6.21 % from 5.18 percent, which was recorded at 0.93 per cent on last July 1st.

With increases of swab sample tests through RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) after strict implementation of three major decisions taken by the state level task force committee, the Covid positive cases started rising in the state since July 1st, but again on Friday, the total active cases has decreases to 1,035 from 1,210 including patients in ‘home isolation’. As on Friday, 282 of the Covid positive patients including patients in ‘home isolation’ have also recovered from their infections and at present, the recovery rate stands at 98.10 %. While, with two more deaths , the death toll now stands at 929 with a fatality rate of 0.87%.

Among positive cases detected in the past 24-hours, West Tripura detected 19 cases, 3 persons from Sepahijala tested positive, 5 from Khowai district, 22 from Gomati, 23 from South Tripura, 13 from Dhalai, 10 from Unakoti and 14 more cases from North Tripura district.

However, the Covid vaccination bulletin added that in continuation of COVID-19 vaccination for children for the age group of 12 to 14 years , altogether 1,81,453 children had received their doses of COVID-19 vaccine and children under the age group of 15 to 17 years has received 2, 52,291 more doses. The state till August 4th (Thursday) has inoculated a total of 56, 36,316 people across the state till date including inoculation of 29, 06,289 persons administered with first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine and 24, 89,130 more people were vaccinated with second doses of Covid vaccine. The vaccine bulletin added that so far, the department has administered 2,40,897 persons with a third booster or precautionary dose of COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare, frontline workers and all people above 18 years of age, who took their second dose of vaccine six months ago. The vaccine bulletin added that till Thursday the state had a stock of 99,730 doses.
