Political parties can access the online views of strong rooms

After peaceful voting for by-elections of four assembly constituencies, the Election Commission of India (ECI) like polling process has also adopted massive and intensified security measures for guarding strong rooms with latest technology, where polled EVMs were stored.

Giving details of the strong room security measures, SDM (Sadar) and Returning Officer (RO) of 8-Town Bardowali assembly constituency Ashim Saha said that all polled EVMs for 6-Agartala and 8-Town Bardowali assembly seats were stored in the strong rooms of Umakanta Academy with round the clock security by the Central Arms Police Forces (CAPFs).

He said that after the election process, all polled EVMs were sealed and stored in presence of Central Observers and representatives of all political parties. He said this time ECI has installed strong CCTV cameras across all strong rooms and representatives of all political parties and their candidates have also been allowed to view the strong rooms online.

Apart from this, political parties were also allowed to depute their representative for guarding duty along with CAPFs in the strong rooms and necessary identification cards issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura.

He said that ECI has adopted this new measures for cent percent transparency and political parties can now check environment strong rooms and EVMs through virtually or physically also.

The Central Observers also completed the scrutiny process of all polled EVMs on Friday in presence of candidates and their representatives.
